          Invention
by: Georgia Conley
The Shang Dynasty invented there own writing system that consisted over 3,000 symbols and characters. Each word was represented by multiple symbols and characters. The people of the Shang Dynasty wrote on tortoise shells and flat cattle bones. They also used bronze for the writing.
The Shang Dynasty writing system was developed in 1600 B.C. It was mainly used by the people of the Shang Dynasty. This was one of the only ways the people of the Shang Dynasty would be able to communicate with one another. In the 1920's more then 20,000 writings were discovered in the initial excavations and over four times as many have been discovered since. The Shang Dynasties writing system was one of the first forms of writing created in China.
The invention of the Shang Dynasties writing system changed everybody's lives during this time. It gave people a way of recording important events and most importantly it gave people a way of communicating with one another. The writing system is stilled used today except it has evolved, of course! This writing system even changed our lives today! It gave historians a way of confirming that there was a Shang Dynasty. The people of the Dynasty wrote down many things that we were able to dig up and learn about. Some of the things they wrote down included; politics, economy, religious practices, art and even the early practices of medicine! It was one of the most important and greatest achievements that the Shang Dynasty made!
